Decorate your cleanroom with packaging compliance
For over 20 years, Van der Stähl Scientific has helped our medical device customers deliver hundreds of millions of sterile devices to the point of care. Let us help you with our advanced line of medical pouch sealers and pouch testing machines and products. We invite you to explore our packaging solutions designed to manage the regulatory challenges faced by medical device packaging companies. Our machines are designed to be gentle on consumable parts. That means your maintenance staff will have a great experience with our machinery, as the lifecycle of our consumables parts is exceedingly long. Many of our customers report our impulse sealers only use a fraction of the parts of other machines in house and that they do very little maintenance.
Our robust solenoid actuated sealing bar engenders seal to seal force by gating voltage through our advanced microprocessor. With our airless system you do not need to manage the complexities of validating the air source. Just plug into 110 volts and you’re ready to package your medical device.
Some of our MS-350 customers have had their sealers for 20 years and counting and they are still running strong. Built on a heavy-duty baseplate with precision componentry, the MS-series sealers are built for the long haul. Over a hundred million seals each year worldwide on our reliable systems.
Our sealers ship to you from our fully accredited ISO-17025 calibration lab. We perform temperature calibrations at multiple internal thermal zones for better accuracy. We also verify that the systems pressure is within spec or we perform a multi-zone force calibration on the systems pressure transducer.
A medical packaging Superstar
The MS-350 medical device pouch sealer has become a favorite of medical packaging engineers worldwide. Easy to setup this precision packager develops consistent temperature and force for seal-to-seal repeatability. This sealer can output an impressive amount of seals for a demanding workflow. The sterile barrier system’s best friend
The MS 350 medical device packaging machine creates a ten millimeter wide seal and can seal a pouch up to approximately thirteen inches wide. The sealer does not require an air supply, only standard 110-volt service. The MS 350 sealer can seal a variety of materials such as nylon, Tyvek®, Mylar and poly. The microprocessor allows for the adjustment of contact temperature, contact time and release temperature. Set the MS-350 sealer to a semiautomatic mode for touch free operation or activate with the foot or hand switch for better user flexibility.
- Password protected settings
- Multi-zone internal calibration
- Adjustable auto-cycle mode
- Powerful solenoid
- Airless system operation
- Easy wipe-down design
Deliver your medical devices sterile to the point of care
Why risk medical device sterility with inferior packaging machinery? Our line of packaging and testing machinery is designed to make certain that your devices arrive safely into the sterile field. The foundation of patent safely begins with efficacious medical devices that are delivered safe and sterile to the patient.
More about the MS 350 Medical Pouch Sealer
Unlike many packaging machines in our industry, the MS 350 medical pouch sealer does not use inexpensive air valves to actuate the critical pressure at the platen. Our custom-built solenoid is minutely controlled through the system’s advanced microprocessor. Unlike many packaging machines that build their sealers on mild steel cases, the MS 350 is built on a cast-aluminum base plate designed to perform for the long haul. For this reason, the MS 350 medical pouch sealer has gained an incredible reputation in our industry. Literally millions of seals are created each day through our network of individuals who use this system.

Testing integration, the future of medical device packaging
Medical device packaging engineers agree the pathway to compliant device packaging is through regular testing and inspection. With our patented MS-451-PV medical device pouch sealing machine, seal performance is verified with the onboard testing and inspection system.
More about the MS-451 Medical Pouch Sealer
As critical packaging compliance becomes more rigorous, packaging machines will need to employ logic systems to guide the process. The MS-451-PV medical device packaging system has been called the Swiss Army Knife of medical device packaging. Medical device pouch testing and inspection are so valuable to the process of sterile packaging we have incorporated a precision tensile/peel strength testing device that integrates with the systems master microprocessor. This advanced system also includes our patented visual inspection system the VIU. This pouch observation fixture aids in the discovery of possible seal failures.

Our custom-built solenoid is minutely controlled through the system’s advanced microprocessor and calibrated transducer. Unlike many packaging machines that build their sealers on mild steel cases, the MS-451 is built on a cast-aluminum base plate designed to perform for the long haul. The MS-451 is easy to setup and is supported through our online training program for machine maintenance and calibration and is backed by our ISO 17025 accredited Laboratory.
The MS-451 medical pouch sealer/pouch tester/visual inspection device is a complete sterile packaging solution in one machine. You can seal your pouches, perform tensile testing as well as visually inspect your pouches right in your cleanroom at the point of packaging. Our integrated pouch tensile/peel testing system can be verified with our “Smart Spring” to assure that you are gaining solid peel data between annual calibrations. Our patented low angle of light visual inspection fixture provides a repeatable light source and magnification to better identify pouch seal anomalies that could lead to device sterility loss.
Seal, Test and Inspect
The MS 451 PV medical pouch sealer controls all critical packaging attributes in order to assure seal-to-seal consistency. An advanced transducer manages platen pressure, which electronically feeds back data to the microprocessor in real-time. A thin film thermocouple also sends the thermal data of the sealing environment to finely manage sealing temperature. The function of testing and inspecting medical pouches is so valuable it should indeed be performed at the point of packaging. Our system not only encourages regular testing but also requires and records the process. As the industry demands tighter controls, smarter packaging machines like ours may soon be a mandate.
“High level of customer service by a group of technicians and sales staff that know their product.”
― MARY ANN GREENAWALT, DIRECTOR
Our most popular model, the airless, ergonomic MS-350 medical device packaging machine is the perfect device packaging solutions for nearly all film types from Tyvek to foil up to 13” wide.
The OPL series sealers come in 3 seal widths to accommodated medical pouches up to 600mm wide. This system utilizes the same advanced controller as the MS-350 sealer to assure accuracy.
Our most feature rich system, this sealer is a complete packaging program in a single machine. The MS-451 unit is not only an advanced medical pouch sealer, it is also a complete packaging laboratory.
